About Plasmidsaurus Plasmidsaurus is on a mission to accelerate new cures and promote a healthier planet by unlocking a new level of productivity for scientists. Our sequencing services are used daily by thousands of innovators, including Nobel laureates, Fortune 100 pharma, and over 70,000 scientists. We began by revolutionizing plasmid sequencing, making it exponentially cheaper and faster, with innovative sequencing technologies and a global network of laboratories that turn samples into answers in hours, not weeks. Now we are expanding that same disruptive model across all of genomics. With the launch of our new RNA-seq service, we are taking a bold step toward our vision to sequence everything, providing scientists everywhere with faster, simpler, and more affordable access to the data that powers discovery. Every team member at Plasmidsaurus plays a crucial role in driving the future of biotech research. Together, we are building the world’s most efficient sequencing engine that operates overnight, scales globally, and helps scientists make breakthroughs faster than ever before. ROLE OVERVIEW As Plasmidsaurus continues to grow, we need an Accounting Manager to help our accounting operations keep pace. Reporting to the Controller, you'll manage accounts payable, inventory accounting, and global month-end close, while keeping our processes and documentation to a standard that holds up under audit as we grow across the US, Europe, and Asia. This is a hands-on role for an Accounting Manager who wants to build infrastructure from the ground up, not just maintain what's already there. It's an opportunity to continue building the foundation for the finance function at a fast-growing biotech company. WHAT YOU'LL DO Global Accounting Close & Reporting - Own the global consolidated month-end close across US and international subsidiaries, driving toward best-in-class close timeline. - Own inventory accounting, tracking value of supplies consumed and on-hand inventory across our labs as our new inventory management system comes online. Systems & Technical Accounting - Become the system owner of our AI-native ERP system, Rillet, and ensure we're utilizing the features and modules available. - Own ASC 606 revenue recognition and ASC 842 lease accounting compliance by partnering with the controller to build accounting schedules and documentation. - Manage stock-based compensation accounting and workflows in Carta. Financial Operations & Audit Readiness - Manage our accounts payable process end to end, partnering closely with our Procurement specialist and AR team for efficient cash flow management. - Ensure process compliance and documentation for audit readiness, partnering with the Controller on schedules and the external auditor relationship. - Work with our People Team to ensure payroll is processed accurately across all entities. Team & Compliance - Serve as point of contact with local accounting firms for foreign entities, owning their accounting and consolidation. - Coordinate with local service providers to ensure statutory compliance and tax filings across our US, European, and Asian entities. - Work closely with our offshore accounting team to provide guidance and ensure they're supported to complete their work. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE 90 Days You've taken ownership over our Accounts Payable, Inventory and month-end close processes. The finance team, AR team, and other cross-functional collaborators already consider you a strong working partner. You have a clear read on what's working in month-end close and what needs to change. 6 Months A month-end close timeline of 5 days or less has been maintained consistently. Process documentation is in place to support audit readiness. Inventory accounting is up and running as the new inventory management system comes online, and you're the trusted point of contact for foreign entity accounting, partnering with the Controller and external auditors to ensure ASC 606 revenue recognition and ASC 842 lease accounting compliance are in place. 1 Year You own foreign entity accounting and ensure global statutory compliance is maintained by partnering with our local accounting firm experts. As the company continues to grow globally, you're positioned to build and lead a small team as scope expands. WHAT YOU'LL BRING - Accounting degree and CPA (active or inactive) preferred. - 7+ years of accounting experience, Big-4 audit and industry experience preferred. - 2+ years managing, leading or mentoring other team members. - Track record of managing AP and month-end close in prior roles. - Deep proficiency in US GAAP, specifically ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 lease accounting, and ASC 718 stock-based compensation. - Experience with modern ERPs (Rillet experience a plus) and spend management platforms (Ramp experience a plus). - Strong analytical skills. You're comfortable digging into the financials and turning data into real insight. - A builder mindset. You're energized by creating scalable processes from scratch - Our preference is to have someone working hybrid in office 3 days per week from our South San Francisco HQ; we'll consider remote for exceptional candidates. WAYS OF WORKING - Own — AP, close, inventory, foreign entities are yours to make excellent, not just maintain. You take responsibility and don't need to be chased. - Build — When a process doesn't exist yet, you create it rather than waiting for someone else to. - Move — Best-in-class close timing doesn't happen by accident. You're decisive, bias to action, and don't let things slide. - Participate — Working across Procurement, Engineering, and People means speaking up, sharing ideas early, and giving feedback with care. - Inspire — You raise the bar for the team around you, including as you grow and develop the accounting team over time. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't perfectly align with the job description as we seek out diverse and creative perspectives. Team members who love to learn and collaborate in an inclusive environment will thrive with us. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
