About Fetch Fetch is how modern pet parents give their pets the best care. One pink app 🩷 for insurance, health and care. We’ve raised our Series A from Lightspeed and Airtree, we’re rated 4.9 on Google, #1 by CHOICE, and we’re growing fast. Now we’re turning Australia’s fastest-growing pet insurance brand into Australia’s most-loved consumer pet health brand. - Location: Sydney, hybrid, Tue/Wed/Thu in the office - Employment: Full time - Stack: TypeScript, React, React Native, Next.js, Tailwind - Tools: Cursor, Claude and other AI design and development tools The role We’re looking for a Design Engineer to help build the future of pet health. You’ll design and build big parts of the Fetch consumer app and the platforms our partners use to support pets and their parents. There’s plenty still to figure out, and you’ll have real ownership of how these experiences look, feel and work. You’ll work alongside our design, brand, product and engineering team, bringing your own ideas and taking experiences from early concepts through to release. You might be a designer who builds or an engineer with great design instincts. What matters is that you’ve designed and shipped interfaces yourself, have a strong eye for detail and can make complicated things feel simple. What you’ll own - Key experiences across our consumer app and partner platforms, from early ideas to shipped product. - UX, visual design, prototypes and frontend code, working with the team to turn real user needs into thoughtful experiences. - Interfaces built in React and TypeScript that are responsive, accessible and reliable. - The details that make a product feel great: typography, layout, motion, interactions and clear, helpful feedback. - Improvements to our design system, building on the brand and creating reusable components and patterns. - Using AI to explore different approaches, prototype quickly and build faster. - Refining what you’ve shipped, learning from users and improving how it works. About you - You’ve designed and built digital products, with work you can show us. - You have great taste and strong UI and UX instincts. You can explain why something works beyond how it looks. - You’re comfortable writing frontend code and taking an interface through to release. - You can think through a whole journey, including the awkward bits, empty states and things that might go wrong. - You work well with designers, product people and engineers, bringing your own perspective and building on theirs. - You’re comfortable exploring a problem before there’s a perfect brief. You’ll probably love this role if - Your camera roll is full of screenshots of interfaces you liked. - You’ve downloaded an app just to see how they did the onboarding. - A really good interaction makes you stop and play with it a few more times. - You notice when something’s two pixels off, and it’s hard to leave it alone. - You have a side project, half-built prototype or “I wonder if I could make…” on the go. - You’re always trying new AI tools and sending the team things you’ve made. - You have opinions, enjoy debating ideas and can change your mind. - You care about getting the details right, but also love getting something out into the world. - You want to build something millions of pet parents could use. And occasionally get distracted by an office dog. What it’s like here - The Fetch team is ambitious, smart, hard-working, thoughtful and kind. - You’ll be involved early, with room to debate ideas with founders and the team. - You’ll work on a product loved by pet parents, vets and the broader pet community. - We’re growing fast, and the things you design and build will directly shape the future of Fetch. Perks - Competitive Series A salary + meaningful equity - Hybrid working, with three days in our Sydney office - Latest MacBook Pro and a top setup - Two team retreats each year - Office dogs for cuddles and interruptions - Bean-to-cup coffee, unlimited fruit and snacks, and Toblerone on tap - Inclusive parental leave policy - Five weeks’ annual leave How to apply Send us your CV and something great you’ve designed and built.
