A background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics or similar is useful but not required - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down ambiguous problems and turn them into clear next steps - Confidence working with systems and data, including dashboards, tools, workflows, logs, and APIs - A track record of building tools or automations that others rely on, designing scalable workflows, and making systems easier to operate - Strong technical troubleshooting skills with a practical, hands-on approach - Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify patterns in data and turn them into action - Clear and concise communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences - Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise across urgent support needs and longer-term improvement work - Comfort operating in fast-paced environments where priorities can shift quickly - A passion for supporting farmers and ranchers, and contributing to Halter’s mission to change the way the world farms DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU SIT ON THE STACK, SOME OF THESE WILL LAND HARDER THAN OTHERS - Frontend: strong UX intuition, modern frontend frameworks (React, React Native a bonus), an eye for performance and polish on real devices. - Backend: building and scaling REST APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven services. Comfort with both relational and non-relational databases. Node.js, Kotlin, Go, or systems that integrate with hardware/IoT a bonus. - Full stack: all of the above, end to end, across web, mobile, and the services that power them.
