Our Global Structure Deliveroo is now part of DoorDash, bringing together teams with even greater reach, scale, and ambition. Depending on your role, you may collaborate with teammates, systems, and leaders across DoorDash and Wolt. Together, we’re unlocking new possibilities as one global team. Software Engineers, Subscriptions - Backend Deliveroo is now part of DoorDash, one of the largest online food ordering and delivery platforms in the world. As part of this role, you'll join one of our Subscriptions teams in London, focused on the core proposition and working across our three subscription programmes - DashPass, Deliveroo Plus, and Wolt+. You'll work closely with engineering teams across the US and Europe, as part of the Global Subscription organisation, to build and evolve the shared subscriptions capabilities that power loyalty and membership experiences for millions of customers worldwide. We're hiring backend engineers who want to be at the front line of what engineering looks like in the age of AI. 💡 Why Subscriptions? - An AI-first team by design. We don't use AI as a productivity add-on - we treat agentic coding as a core engineering discipline. We expect our engineers to build with AI agents, to challenge what's possible when the human-in-the-loop is a multiplier rather than a bottleneck, and to push the boundaries of what a small, focused team can ship. - Real ownership, real impact. Our subscription programmes are touching millions of users daily. You'll own features end-to-end - from the idea through production - and see your work matter at scale. - Cross-org engineering at the frontier. Deliveroo, DoorDash and Wolt are working together in order to align subscription experiences across three of the world's leading delivery platforms. This is engineering at the intersection of product ambition and international complexity. - A small team that punches above its weight. We're a cross-functional team: Backend, Mobile, Web, Product, Design, and Data - all in the same room. No handoff theatre. You'll move fast, ship iteratively, and be around people who take craft seriously. 🤖 AI-First Engineering - What This Means Here We're building teams at the forefront of agentic coding. This isn't about using Copilot to autocomplete boilerplate. We mean engineers who: - Design workflows where AI agents handle entire task loops, from spec to PR. - Think in terms of orchestration: what does a human review, what does the agent own? - Build internal tooling and abstractions that make AI-assisted development faster and more reliable for the whole team. - Stay curious and ahead of the curve - trying new models, agents, and tools as they emerge, and forming strong opinions about what's genuinely useful vs. hype. If you find yourself naturally asking "can an agent do this?" before reaching for the keyboard, you'll fit right in. 🔍 What We're Looking For Across all roles - Strong engineering fundamentals - you've built and shipped software that runs at scale, and you understand what that entails: testing, observability, reliability, and maintainability. - Genuine enthusiasm for AI-first development. You use AI tools daily and have formed real opinions about how to get the most out of them. - Ownership mentality: you drive projects forward, communicate clearly across teams and time zones, and don't wait to be told what to do. - Collaborative instincts - the Subscriptions domain sits at the intersection of consumer mobile, web, backend, and data. Cross-functional work is the norm, not the exception. 🙌 About You - You've built and shipped real software - products, platforms, APIs, apps - and you know what it takes to keep things running reliably in production. You have opinions about architecture but hold them lightly. You write tests. You read the alerts. You don't leave loose ends. - What sets you apart right now is that you're genuinely excited about where engineering is going. You've been experimenting with AI agents and agentic coding workflows - not because someone told you to, but because you couldn't help yourself. You think about how to redesign your development loop from first principles, not how to bolt AI onto the way you already work. - You communicate well, collaborate easily across disciplines, and care about the product as much as the code. You're the kind of engineer who asks "what's the best way to..." and then actually follows through. 🌍 Where You'll Work These roles are based in our tech hub in London. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion At Deliveroo, we know that a great workplace reflects the world around us and that true diversity and inclusion make us stronger, more creative, and better at what we do. We’re committed to fostering an environment where everyone can do their best work and feel they belong. If you have a disability or long-term health condition and need support to apply for one of our roles, or require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, you’ll have the opportunity to let us know once you’ve submitted your application. We’ll share details on how to request support so we can ensure you have a fair and equitable experience.
