You will also work on container and process isolation, networking, sandboxing, and node-level infrastructure. - This role is ideal for a systems-focused engineer who can move beyond Kubernetes administration and write software that extends and controls Kubernetes itself. You should be comfortable troubleshooting issues across the Kubernetes API, controller, container runtime, Linux OS, and networking layers. Required Qualification: - 6+ years of experience in systems software, infrastructure software, platform engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline. - Strong hands-on Go/Golang development experience building production-grade systems and infrastructure software. - Proven experience developing Kubernetes controllers/operators, preferably using client-go, controller-runtime, or equivalent Kubernetes development frameworks. - Strong understanding of Kubernetes internals, including CRDs, reconciliation loops, custom resources, owner references, parent-child relationships, finalizers, and controller lifecycle management. - Experience developing or operating Kubernetes-based systems at production scale, beyond basic cluster administration or application deployment. - Strong Linux systems knowledge, including processes, namespaces, cgroups, permissions, memory management, and process lifecycle. - Strong understanding of TCP/IP and Linux networking, including network namespaces, sockets, iptables/netfilter, and node-level networking. - Good understanding of containers and container runtime concepts, including OCI, CRI, container lifecycle, runtime classes, and node-level troubleshooting. - Ability to diagnose complex issues across Kubernetes, containers, Linux nodes, and networking layers. - Strong software engineering fundamentals, including concurrency, distributed systems, reliability, observability, testing, and production troubleshooting. Preferred Qualification: - Experience with Rust or C/C++ for systems-level development. - Hands-on experience with gVisor, Firecracker/microVMs, WASM runtimes, or other sandboxing and workload-isolation technologies. - Experience building multi-tenant Kubernetes infrastructure or systems requiring strong workload and namespace isolation. - Knowledge of Linux kernel interfaces, eBPF, netlink, syscalls, or kernel-level networking. - Experience with SPIFFE/SPIRE, workload identity, zero-trust networking, or security infrastructure. - Experience building Kubernetes infrastructure involving RuntimeClass, custom schedulers, admission controllers, webhooks, or container runtimes. - Experience with KMS/secrets management, secure credential handling, or infrastructure-level security. - Experience developing systems for large-scale distributed or regulated environments, where security, reliability, and auditability are critical. - Contributions to Kubernetes, cloud-native, systems, networking, or security-focused open-source projects.
